A question put to support
How often does an instructor
have to renew their medical check-up?
There is not one answer, there are three. How often depends on what the instructor teaches — and, for the heavy vehicle group, on their age.
Three sets of rules
- Cars and two-wheelers (AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B, BE): every six years, whatever the age.
- Goods transport (C1, C, C1E, CE): five years, then every two years from 60 to 76, then every year beyond that.
- Passenger transport (D1, D, D1E, DE): five years, then every year from the age of 60.
Put another way: a fixed five-year reminder is wrong for most instructors, and not enough for a heavy vehicle group instructor past sixty.
And when someone teaches several groups?
The strictest rule applies. A single check-up covers everything, and it has to meet the shortest requirement.
What App does with this, and what it does not do
The expiry date of the teaching licence is tracked, along with what is already booked after it: a licence that expires with forty-seven lessons standing behind it is not a diary entry, it is a schedule to rebuild.
But let us be precise about one limit. The instructor record carries no date of birth : the shorter intervals that come with age are therefore not applied automatically, and the longest period is the one used. For a heavy vehicle group instructor, check with them directly — the screen cannot know, and it is better to say so than to let you believe otherwise.
